WHO IS INDY?

Indy has worked across all areas of business growth – having initially qualified as a chartered accountant at PwC, before working within Mergers and Acquisitions at Deloitte and Spectrum Corporate Finance, and finally as an Investor at Business Growth Fund. His core experience has been centred on creating wealth for business owners.

Indy has invested and advised on over $3bn worth of transactions. He has worked across all sectors including: Retail, Consumer, Leisure, Tech, Media, Healthcare, Financial Services and Business Services.

Indy has worked with companies of all sizes, at different points of their growth journeys from start-ups (pre-revenue) to over $100bn in market cap. Indy also has experience sitting on the boards of UK companies with over £100m in turnover.

Furthermore, like you, Indy is also a business owner and entrepreneur himself having acquired a domiciliary care business based in Birmingham and knows first-hand the ups and downs that come with running and growing a business!

INDY’S EXPERTISE

Indy has experience working within some of the biggest professional services organisations in the world.

Indy initially qualified as a Chartered Accountant at PwC within the Banking and Capital Markets team, where he worked on some of the largest UK audits post the financial crisis of 2008. He then worked within the Operational Due Diligence team at PwC focusing on Retail, Consumer and Leisure: creating opportunities for businesses to drive greater profits and equity value. Working with TGI Fridays, a leading global restaurant chain, Indy’s advice enabled the businesses to re-engineer its menu offering and reduce wastage levels across the estate to drive greater operational effectives and reduce costs.

Following his time at PwC, Indy joined the Lead Advisory team at Deloitte with a focus on advising on Mergers and Acquisitions within the Telecoms, Media and Technology industry. Indy was the first port of call working with entrepreneurs and corporates seeking to undergo a sale process or an injection of funding for growth. Indy’s role was to understand the drivers of value and market the business to potential buyers and investors to ultimately achieve the best valuation of the business possible. Indy also worked with businesses and private equity clients advising them on potential acquisitions to deliver a return on investment.

Indy was then approached to set up an office in London (Mayfair) for a leading mid-market Corporate Finance house, Spectrum Corporate Finance, which itself was an Entrepreneurial business. He was responsible for managing the end-to-end process on a sell side or buy side transaction, as well as developing relationships with key private equity houses including LDC, ECI, Paladone, Inflexion and Sovereign amongst others. He acquired a speciality for working with entrepreneurs who were going through the emotional journey of their first transaction and guiding them through the many complexities, but staying focused on what would ultimately be a life changing event.

Indy was then presented with the opportunity to move (back) to the Midlands and join Business Growth Fund, the most active growth capital investor in the world, as an Investor. In his own words this was his “dream job” and one he has set as a goal many years ago. At BGF, Indy was responsible for: origination of new investment opportunities; investment execution; and portfolio management (sitting on the board of multiple Midlands companies). Indy built deep relationships with business owners looking to receive funding for growth, to ultimately achieve the personal and business goals.
